3 Midget College Prep Players sign to Post Secondary Baseball Programs
CMBA is proud of our 3 grade 12’s who have signed to post secondary baseball programs. These boys have worked hard and each have accomplished great things. Below is an article from one of the mothers as she reflects on the last couple years here in Chilliwack.

Proud parent of a senior (Chilliwack) Cougar: June 2017
It is the second week of June and as I write this, and I am thinking of how quickly this season has flown by. This time of year always makes one reminiscent, as the school year ends, and especially when you have a graduate finishing high school. The year has been very full, with graduation approaching and planning for the future after graduation. Baseball has been a huge part of Trent’s and our lives for the last 6 years and it’s exciting that it will continue to be, as he finishes high school and heads to California Baptist University for schooling and baseball.
I write this as I think about Trent’s last two years as a Chilliwack Cougar under the coaching of Scott Pankratz and Shawn Corness. Men that have genuinely cared for Trent, not only as a ball player, but as an individual and as I think about it, it makes me very grateful for the step of faith we took to join the Cougars and enter the college prep league. It has been a great experience these last two years. I have seen Trent grow and develop in his baseball skills and as a young man, and I feel confident to release him to the “post-secondary world”—out from under mom and dad’s wing.
As much as I appreciate the excellent training he has received from his coaches, I am also grateful for the teammates he has come to know and play with over these last few years in Chilliwack. It’s inspiring to see a team gel and come together, players who care about each other and support each other’s achievements. This attitude reflects in the dugout and out on the field. Mutual respect and strong work ethic permeates throughout this team, and I am truly a proud parent not only of my son but of every player on this team.
This year there are three seniors on the team; Cade Smith, Tre Pankratz and my son, Trent King. The history of these boys playing together is a neat story in itself, and it is exciting to know that all three of them have signed with post secondary schools for baseball—to follow their baseball dreams, and obtain a higher education. I have come to know these boys’ families personally and I say to you all, it has been an honour and privilege to have our boys play together and grow as teammates and friends. Scott and Lynette; Tim and Sylvia—thank you for your genuine friendship, for your love of this sport and of your children, and for blessing us with your friendship. I am so proud of our boys and I value knowing our friendships will continue even as our boys follow different paths. Thank you for being a part of our world and shaping these boys to be who they are. You are the best!
Chilliwack Minor Baseball—thank you for providing the programing you do and supporting excellent off- season training. This continues to make you a stronger and stronger association and I commend you as an association for forging ahead not only in grass roots development but in quality training in all your divisions. Keep up the good work!
A few more months left of games . . . I look forward to every moment of them. Go Cougs go!!!
A proud Chilliwack Cougar
